Aims & Learning Outcomes
1.1 Module aims
This module aims to introduce participants to personal and professional development planning (PDP). Participants will, in consultation with their academic tutor, undertake an agreed programme of work set out in a learning contract designed to promote self-awareness of learning derived from work and how it can support professional development.
1.2 Assessed Learning Outcomes
At the end of a module the learner will be expected to be able to:
- Describe personal and professional development planning and provide examples of PDP activities
- With guidance, record and map learning, performance and achievement against outcomes set out in a learning contract
- With guidance, evaluate and reflect upon personal and professional strengths and weaknesses against agreed criteria
- Identify priorities and opportunities for continuing personal and professional development

1.4 Module Programme
The module will run from December2011 and complete in June 2012. This is a distance learning module for learners in the workplace and no formal, regular, group teaching sessions are scheduled. Contact with the module tutor will be through email and telephone, and where appropriate, web-conferencing.
